Juicing for Weight Loss - Lose 15 Pounds in 15 Days

Anyone who wants to burn body fat in the quickest way possible may want to look into juicing for weight loss, otherwise known as juice fasting. There are many fad diets out there that promise you quick weight loss, but you have to be careful, because most diets will allow you to drop weight only to put the pounds right back on again. If you want the best method of weight loss you may want to check out juice fasting. In the short term, this could be a great way to shed up to 30 pounds easily in one month. What other diet enables you to lose so much weight so quickly while flooding your body with nutrients, vitamins and enzymes.

On this diet, you need a juicing machine or blender. Most people prefer a juicer to a blender. The juicer allows you to make liquid juice without all the thick fiber. The juicer machine makes more palatable vegetables juice that is easier to drink. This is especially true for people who want to add in leafy greens to their juice, such as wheatgrass. The masticating juicers are the juicer of choice for people who want to detox their bodies using leafy greens such as spinach, wheatgrass, chard and kale.

Juicer

Juicing is one of the best ways to detox your body. The leafy greens such as wheatgrass have chlorophyll in them. Chlorophyll helps to pull out heavy metals from the body. Most of us have stored up heavy metals such as aluminum and some times mercury. These can come from our metal dental fillings and from our cooking pots. Metals are even in the water and thus absorb into our bloodstream. Juicing for weight loss will help your body clean up these heavy metals and push them out of the body.

When starting a juice fast diet you should purchase a quality "masticating" juicer machine. The masticating juicers extract vitamins and enzymes from the vegetables and fruits, while, most importantly, keeping the vital enzymes and nutrients in your juice. This is very important. Most juicer machines on the market will heat up the juice and destroy the vital enzymes that will enable you to burn fat during your juicing for weight loss program.

Most health enthusiasts use the top of the line masticating juicers. They know that filling their bodies with the vitamins and enzymes from the juice will keep their bodies in the best shape possible. Some of the most recommended juicers are the Omega VERT or the Hurom Slow Juicer. The Green Star juicers are also highly recommended as well. Centrifugal juicers, which is what you see in most of the stores, cannot usually juice leafy greens such as wheatgrass. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you use a masticating juicer.

You can lose a lot of weight while on your juicing for weight loss diet. It is recommended to stay on this juice fasting diet for at least two days, until no withdrawal symptoms can be felt. You will probably experience the withdrawal symptoms when fist starting your juicing for weight loss. Your body is getting rid of stored toxins and this may make you feel a little woozy or achy. You can take vitamin C to help your body clean up the toxins that have been moved into your bloodstream.

There are several reasons why one might want to use this juice fasting method. Some people may want to lose a large amount of weight, while others may be trying to overcome illnesses such as cancer or diabetes. Many health practitioners agree that the main cause of disease is stored toxins in the body. Juicing for weight loss not only helps your body burn fat, but it also releases toxins to help your body recover from illnesses.

Dr. Max Gerson is a doctor who is famous for using juicing and juice fasting to help cancer patients recover. Not only was he able to recuperate cancer patients, but he found that juicing also healed people from other illnesses such as diabetes, allergies, migraines and more. His findings were suppressed due to the simplicity of the treatment and it's threat to the billions of dollars in pharmaceutical profits.

Some people may think that that juicing for weight loss lowers the metabolism of the body, but this is not true. After juicing your body will be in better shape and your metabolism should increase. Plus, you will want to eat less since your stomach will have shrunk. Your body will be working much more efficiently after juicing for weight loss. Since your colon will be cleaned out. Sometimes we carry 10 pounds of built up excrement in the colon area. This needs to be cleaned out. That is why juicing is so beneficial to the body.

Juice fasting is highly beneficial to the body. You can lose around 30 pounds during one month. Juicing will help to clean your body of harmful toxins and can lower you chances of contracting a disease later on in life. Juicing for weight loss is one of the best things you can do for your body.

Do Flax Seeds Help with Weight Loss?

Yup. It's true. Flax seeds can help you to lose weight.

How?

Smoothies

Well, flax seeds are very high in fiber. Health experts have promoted the use of fiber for weight loss, and with good reason. Fiber makes you feel full because it absorbs fluid, then expands, which creates a satisfied feeling.

Research supports the use of flax seeds for weight loss, too. It is proven to reduce blood sugar levels, and may even help to prevent type 2 diabetes! Healthy blood sugar levels are critical to achieving, and maintaining, a healthy weight.

Flax seeds also have a whole host of other nutrients that make them a true superfood. They are known for their anti-inflammatory and anticancer abilities. So use flaxseed for weight loss--you'll get lots of additional benefits!

How do you eat flax seed?

I don't recommend using flax seed oil because it can go rancid so easily. It's a very fragile oil, and must be kept away from any light and refrigerated at all times, or it will go bad. Some people have difficulty digesting oils, too.

So it's best to eat flax seed in its whole seed form, or grind it just before you're going to use it. I grind about a cup at a time, then keep it in the fridge. I use this up within a week, so it stays very fresh. You can use your blender to grind the seeds, or a food processor. Some people use a coffee grinder--just make sure you clean all the coffee grounds out before you put the flax seed in!

There are LOTS of ways you can eat flax seed. I make low carb muffins with it, using ground flax seed as a flour replacement.

You can add flax seeds to just about anything. It's best to eat them raw. I sometimes put a teaspoon or two into my smoothies. This makes for a grain-y smoothie that might need some chewing, but I like that. Give it a try.

Another way to eat flax seed is in a pre-made fiber mix. There are several fiber products available that include flax as a primary ingredient. You could also use a fiber product during the mid-afternoon when you get the "munchies", and it will help to keep you from turning to fattening foods.

Bottom Line

The connection between flax seeds and weight loss is strong, and research shows the importance of fiber for weight loss. Use flaxseed in a variety of ways, including shakes/smoothies and in your baking recipes. It will keep you full, and away from eating foods that promote weight gain.

How to - A Fruit Smoothie For Diabetics

Everybody loves blender smoothies, young and old alike. But people with diabetes would need to be careful in the type and amount of food they have an intake of ... and smoothies are definitely part of the foods that they should watch out for.

My grandmother - she has type 2 diabetes mellitus, a disease where the body cannot regulate glucose in the blood - loves smoothies so much, even before she was diagnosed. Her diet is now controlled with weight loss programs, exercises and oral medications in tow. But she would never give up her beloved smoothies. But instead of regular, classic smoothies (with just fruit and some milk), she was advised to include yogurt in the drink.

Blenders

Apparently, clinical studies on yogurt and mice showed that engineered microbes and probiotics (the good bacteria) have shown much promise in Mickey's diabetic relatives. While the studies aren't conclusive yet, some diabetics have decided to have a go at it, my grandma included.

Here are some recipes that she already tried without any damaging effect on her newfound lifestyle:

- Strawberry lovers can try this with a smile on their lips: Blend 8 ounces of plain nonfat yogurt, one-fourth cup of skim milk, and 3 packets of Equal sweetener (or 1 teaspoon of Equal). With blender on, open the top lid and gradually add 3 cups of frozen strawberries. Blend until smooth. Add ice cubes and blend and process until smooth. (Nutritional value: 76 calories, 0 grams of fat, 2 mg of cholesterol, 54 mg of sodium, 0 grams of saturated fat, 2 grams of dietary fiber, 14 grams of sugar, 4 grams of protein, 16 grams of carbohydrates.)

- Grandma is a coffee lover and gives herself a once-a-week treat by making this smoothie: Blend 3 cups fat-free milk (not low-fat, mind you), a cup of water, half a cup of sugar-free chocolate flavored syrup, 2 teaspoons of instant coffee granules and a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Add 1 quart of vanilla sugar-free and fat-free ice cream in the blender. Blend until creamy. Note: most blenders are a bit small for this recipe, so you can pour half of the coffee mix in a bowl and put in half of the ice cream. Blend until creamy; pour in a pitcher. Combine remaining chocolate mix and ice cream and repeat process. (Nutritional value: 124 calories, 2 grams of fat, 7.2 grams of protein, 25.1 grams of carbohydrates, 1 grams of saturated fat, 0.5 grams of dietary fiber, 2 mg of cholesterol, 125 mg of sodium.)

Diabetics are no different from non-diabetics - they still need the basic food groups, much like what other people need. So it gives them the right to enjoy what others enjoy too. Drinks up!

Raw Food Recipes for Beginners - Super-Energizing Breakfast Smoothies!

One of the most common complaints received from people concerning transitioning to a raw food diet is how complicated the recipes are. So many contain ingredient lists a mile long and either requires a twelve-step process to make or twelve hours of dehydrator time. Few people have the time to plan meals twelve hours in advance and these complex recipes can be quite daunting for even the most experienced raw-foodies, let alone a beginner.

That being said, some of the most delicious recipes are the least complicated you will come by. These raw food recipes for beginners are dietary staples and encourage great nutrition, amazing taste, while requiring very minimal preparation time.

Smoothies

One such recipe is a super-energizing breakfast smoothie. Called "green drinks" or "green smoothies" among many in the raw food community, this recipe provides you with amazing, mind-clearing energy through raw, all natural, core nutrients that can be found right in your refrigerator.

Greens are arguably the most essential component to our diets. From greens we receive vitamins, minerals, fiber, and proteins, so it is no wonder you experience a surge of energy when you supply your bodies with these core nutrients found in the most basic raw food recipes for beginners. As a society, we are recommended to consume a minimum of five servings of vegetables and fruits a day but unfortunately, the standard American diet has less than 30% of Americans meeting that goal (26.3% according to a study done by the CDC in 2009).

These simple raw food recipes for beginners allow you to incorporate all of these essential energizing nutrients into your diet. One 14-ounce serving of a blended green drink can have three to four servings of fruits and vegetables each. Green drinks can be made with a variety of ingredients, the most popular being Spinach, Kale, Romaine lettuce, and Red Leaf lettuce. Numerous fruits can also be used including red or green grapes, blueberries, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, oranges, and lemons, making green drinks incredibly versatile to personal tastes.

High Protein Breakfast Smoothie Recipes

Most people skip breakfast and that's a huge mistake. Not only do you need breakfast to help recover from your lack of food during the night but you also need to get incoming nutrients in your body to help your hormones. So while I understand that people are busy and you may not have the time to make a healthy breakfast and sit down, you do have a few minutes to make some great, healthy smoothies. Here's a bunch of recipes.

1 chopped frozen banana
1/2 c. plain yogurt
1/2 c. milk of choice
4 chopped dates (rehydrated, if necessary to make them soft)
1 tbsp. nut butter

\"Smoothie Recipe\"

1 cup vanilla yogurt
1 cup 2 percent milk
1 medium banana
2 tablespoons wheat germs
2 tablespoons protein powder

1 banana
6 strawberries
1 kiwi
1/2 cup vanilla frozen yogurt
3/4 cup pineapple and orange juice blend

- 1 banana, cut in chunks
- 1 cup grapes
- 1 (6 ounce) tub vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 apple, cored and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 1 banana

- 1 1/4 cups sliced fresh strawberries
- 10 whole almonds
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 3 tablespoons chocolate flavored protein powder
- 1 1/2 cups vanilla yogurt
- 2 bananas, cut up

- 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
- 2 tablespoons wheat germ
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 banana
- 1/8 cup peanut butter
- 1/2 cup soy milk
- 2 tablespoons honey

- 1 banana, cut in chunks
- 1 cup grapes
- 1 (6 ounce) tub vanilla yogurt
- 1/2 apple, cored and chopped
- 1 1/2 cups fresh spinach leaves
- 1 cup nonfat yogurt
- 1 cup nonfat milk

- 1 cup (packed) pitted Medjool dates (about 9 ounces)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups ice cubes

So those are a few fantastic breakfast smoothies. Want to make your own? It's simple really, you have to have whey protein and non-fat yogurt as your base or else the fruits won't do anything to fill you up or provide any type of a meal. So make sure that you pick a few different fruits that taste well alone, if they don't taste good on their own then they aren't going to taste good in a smoothie. You can use water or non-fat milk, either will do the job for a high protein breakfast smoothie

Milkshakes, Frappes, and Smoothies, What's The Difference?

I really enjoy blended drinks and so do many other people. They can be very tasty, sometimes quite healthy, and are great both on the go and when you have time to sit and enjoy a drink. Often these terms are used interchangeable, but there is somewhat of a difference which can be quite important. Here are some of the main differences.

A Milkshake is a sweet and cold drink and as the name implies, contains milk. It also contains ice cream and may contain flavorings like fruit concentrate or chocolate, which can also serve to sweeten the beverage. No one claims there are any health benefits to milkshakes, just that they taste great!

Smoothies

Normally in most good restaurants they are prepared by hand. The ingredients are mixed and shaken by hand. Fast food restaurants may use a mixing machine to mix a premade mixture together with flavorings. There are actually many variants, for example, a "malt" which uses malted milk. In some countries like England and Australia they are actually often made without ice cream.

A frappe is simply a thick milkshake, and the term seems most common in New England. Often they are coffee flavored and called a coffee frappe.

Originally, in the 1880s to early 1900s, milkshakes contained alcohol. You will rarely see one of those today, and if you do, the term milkshake is not used.

A Smoothie is similar to a milkshake, in fact there is not necessarily a clear cut delineation, but some drinks clearly fall into one camp or the other. Here are the important differences.

Smoothies are much more likely to contain fruit, protein powder, herbal supplements, vegetables, and green tea. They are often touted as healthy, and indeed many may be, whereas a milkshake is all pleasure. Often they will contain yogurt instead of milk. Sometimes they are used as meal replacements for weight loss, or as meal supplements for weight gain among bodybuilders. The term originated in the 1960s to describe fruit and vegetable drinks.

Some drinks can clearly fall into either camp. For example, after my weigh lifting workout today, I had a blended and chilled drink made from soy protein powder, a banana, milk, some strawberries, chopped ice, and a bit of ice cream as well. You might call this whatever you would like, but it was delicious and nourishing.

Most commonly people made these styles of drinks at home with a blender these days. The blender serves to both mix the drink and sometimes chop or pulverize some of the ingredients, for example ice, fruit, or nuts.

Natural Foods That Kill Parasites

There are many natural foods that can kill parasites without having to use harmful drugs that can cause severe side effects. These are natural foods that help to create an environment wherein the parasites become uncomfortable, and thus are forced to die or leave the body. Parasites can only survive in the body if the environment suits them. Once this is understood, the task of killing parasites no longer seems so undaunting.

Herbs and Spices

Smoothies

There are many herbs and spices that can be used in the foods to kill parasites. These include cloves, garlic, wormwood, black walnut, cumin, caraway seeds, rosemary, sage, ginger root, catnip, cinnamon and cayenne pepper.

Depending on the preference, these herbs and spices can be added into herbal or spice teas, salad dressings, smoothies and into raw vegetable soups. They are also great in rice and bean dishes, baked or steamed vegetables, as well as in stir-fries.

Vegetables

Vegetables are also excellent foods that kill parasites naturally. Cabbage, cucumbers, carrots, beets, onions and leafy greens are high in fiber and other important nutrients that help kill and expel parasites from the body. Hot peppers are also very effective, as they help to warm the body internally, which the parasites do not like.

To make the most out of the vegetables, they should not be overcooked, as that depletes the nutrients. They can be lightly sautéed, steamed or baked at low temperatures, or better yet, eaten raw.

Fruits

Fruits are high in sugar, and thus should be avoided to a certain degree, particularly during the first few weeks of parasite cleansing. However, there are fruits that have been shown to help fight parasites and they include papaya, pineapple and tomatoes.

Lemon juice is also effective, and can be taken with honey in a cup of water.

Seeds

Certain seeds can also help, particularly pumpkin seeds, caraway seeds and papaya seeds.

Oils

Avocados, coconut oil and Castor oil are said to be very effective in expelling worms from the body. These oils can be used in salad dressings, smoothies and many other foods. When cooking, or making a stir-fry, coconut oil is one of the best oils to use, as it can withstand high temperatures. It is also a great oil to add into hot or cold smoothies for extra flavor and a rich texture.

Fluids

Warm teas and plenty of water is also helpful in washing out the parasites from the digestive system and other parts of the body. Not enough fluids can result in constipation, which is an environment that the parasites love.

Milkshakes - The Easy Snack to Go

Who doesn't love milkshakes? Milkshakes are the universal during hot summer days and make excellent snacks for those who prefer drinking rather that eating snacks. How can you make healthy milkshakes to curb those cravings?

The recipes are various, but let's start with the basics. Buy yourself a decent blender, it shouldn't be that expensive and you can get it from any superstore. A simple milkshake depends on your preferences, do you like apples? Do like oranges? Do you like strawberries? Whatever you preference is, you can simply throw in the ingredients with two cups of skimmed milk - tastes better - and you'll have a milkshake in no time. Another way to do it, if it's really hot, is to get low-fat ice-cream and add it to the mix. If you're a fan of nuts, you can chop them up and add them to the milkshake.

Milkshakes

For those bodybuilding, you can always add protein powder and a couple of egg whites for maximum results. However; for such a milkshake, make sure you keep it in the fridge and don't drink it after two days - you don't want to risk the eggs going bad.

You can always try different variations with ice cubes instead of ice-cream; it gives it a crunchier feeling. An old trick some chefs used was to add a little bit of ginger, since ginger makes almost anything taste good. Some people prefer vegetable shakes to milkshakes; you can always put your vegetables in the blender according to your preference. Such shakes are perfect for those with ulcers and gastric conditions.

If you're the kind of person who can't stand anything unsweetened, you can try adding a teaspoon of honey; it adds fewer calories than putting actual sugar. Other additions such adding a teaspoon of coffee or any other stimulant should be done with care, and always remember to keep your shakes and milkshakes within the boundaries of you diet for ultimate success.

A Big Cake Isn't Always Better When Planning a Wedding

Wedding planning always includes dessert. The traditional option of course is the extravagant tiered cake. However, not everyone wants to eat cake or pay for it. Dessert alternatives to the traditional cake can often be more elegant and cost effective. Choosing to stray away from a tiered cake opens the door to variety in flavor and style, and it can also allow for creativity and unique ideas to generate.

Every bride wants to please and impress her guests. One way to do so is to think outside the box for dessert. Offering an assortment of miniature desserts for example is one way to go. From miniature tarts and pies to milkshakes, dipped fruit, cookies, candy, cream puffs, or truffles, you can easily please any palate.

Milkshakes

By offering a variety of small portion options, guests can sample a range of flavors. Also, after a meal with many courses, most guests do not have room for a piece of cake, but a small cupcake might be just right.

Another way to amaze guests is to make dessert a show by offering a dessert station with a chef on hand. Watching someone create a dessert just for them will ensure they get just what they want and in a fun way. Who wouldn't want to watch someone prepare bananas foster or torch some creme brulee?

Unleash their inner child and let guests create their own dessert masterpiece by offering a sundae bar. Versatility through flavors and toppings give guests control over what they eat. With a cake there is only one option, but with a sundae bar the possibilities are endless, not to mention fun.

Have a favorite country? Use that as a personal touch for dessert inspiration. If you love France and everything French, create a spread of all French mini desserts. Offering fruit tarts, chocolates, elcairs, napoleons, meringues, and tiramisu will make your guests feel like they walked into a French bakery. By giving your guests a unique experience, they will enjoy themselves more. Creative ideas like this will also make wedding planning more fun.

Don't have a sweet tooth? No problem. Tart sorbets, after dinner liqueurs, fruit displays, and cheese boards are other options that will surprise your guests and give them something to remember. These can be added to displays with other desserts, or stick with a theme of non-sweet after dinner treats.

For those concerned that a spread of options is not as aesthetically pleasing as a monstrous cake, never underestimate the power of presentation. Use a martini glass to serve chocolate mousse with a mint garnish and a colored sugar rim. Have your caterer decorate each piece of dessert. Try a monogram on a cookie. There are endless options to make individual desserts more elegant than a cake.

To save money and take out a step of wedding planning, make the dessert function as your centerpieces. Place a small cake in the center of each table, have them match or offer different varieties at each table. If you are having a backyard wedding use s'mores as a centerpiece and dessert. Have a (safe) flame in the center and provide all the fixings when it is time for dessert. Or go for chocolate fondue. What better than a vat of chocolate for guests to drool over all night? If you have a little extra to spend try a French Croquembouche at each table; this is a sure way to impress every guest.

To make it personal, if you have a friend or relative who has a special dessert recipe, ask them to bake that as an option. Homemade desserts will be cheaper or free depending on who is baking. Plus, they will add a touch of charm. Having a family recipe as dessert is another way to make the reception more meaningful. However, if you are having a three hundred person bash, the baker might not be up for the task.

Ease your wedding planning and go with a fun small-scale dessert. It will eliminate the pressure to pick the one perfect cake, because you can offer tons of options with miniatures. Not to mention the fiscal savings that will come. The price of anything, including a cake, spikes when the word "wedding" is mentioned, so less traditional options like mini tarts are likely to cost less. An individual option will eliminate any charges for cake cutting that most venues tack on. Lastly, one more perk to an individual dessert is it can be made into the wedding favor. Double up here to save money. Guests who are full from dinner might appreciate a small midnight snack later, and what better way to snack then with a perfect size dessert?

Health Benefits of Eating a Raw Food Diet

Raw foods are very good for human health and either making raw foods a larger part of your diet or switching to an entirely raw food diet can provide a number of benefits. A raw food diet consists entirely of uncooked preferably organically grown plant based foods; largely fresh, raw fruits and vegetables, seeds, nuts and juices - dried fruits and vegetables may also be added to these diets.

Raw food diets are almost entirely vegan, with many of the health benefits of these diets being due to the large quantities of dietary fiber and nutrients; components which are often lost when cooking or processing food. Raw foods are generally lower calorie and are easily digested, since raw foods contain all of the enzymes which aid in their digestion - these are destroyed by cooking fruits and vegetables.

Juicer

What Are The Health Benefits Of Eating A Raw Food Diet?

There are very little or no saturated fats or sodium and these diets provide the magnesium, folic acid and dietary fiber as well as other nutrients which the human body needs for good health. These diets are also detoxifying, helping the body to flush out toxins. What's On The Menu In A Raw Food Diet? Any fresh, uncooked vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and other foods may be eaten as well as sprouted beans and grains. Some especially healthy choices include:

Sprouted brown rice: this food helps slow the absorption of glucose and regulates the metabolism

Cabbage: All cruciferous vegetables are high in fiber and support a variety of crucial systems in the body

Before You Make The Switch

You should always speak with your physician before making any big changes in your diet. You should also ask your doctor about raw food diets if you plan to switch your children to this sort of diet.

One thing to be aware of is that since a raw food diet tends to detoxify the body, you may experience mild reactions at first as your body flushes out stored toxins. You may experience headaches and nausea, though these should be mild and short lived. A raw food diet can make a dramatic difference to your health as long as you're willing to put in the necessary time and effort. You will have to prepare more of your own meals than you may be used to, but there are plenty of products out there which are designed to assist you in making the transition an easier one.
